The Teacher
First and foremost, Chris is a teacher. He is currently Deputy Head at Penryn Preparatory School, in Mbombela.
His passion and research interest is in the teaching and learning of South African languages. It was through his Master’s in Education and now his PhD that this method of language learning was developed.
Chris speaks 6-and-a-half languages and loves helping others unlock the joy of speaking another language.

Why should South Africans learn languages?
The fact that you have read this far tells me you’re interested. Perhaps you want to be able to communicate with a spouse or your in-laws, perhaps you want to understand your teammates on the football pitch, or maybe you want to wow your colleagues at work. Whatever the reason, learning to speak a language is one of life’s greatest accomplishments and joys.
Learning Setswana made me a better South African and a better person. It opened doors to communities and conversations (and music, jokes and memes) that were previously closed to me.
If you’re only experiencing South Africa in English, you are missing out.
